MediaInfo is a small but powerful program that can give you access to all the hidden information that is located in your audio and video files. With it you can find out everything, from easily accessible information about song properties, to the more precise details about specific codecs and the way that file was created.

First version of MediaInfo was released to the public on 28 December 2012, and was ever since then developed in an open source environment that enabled it to become incredibly useful to everyone who is interested to extract metadata from multimedia files that they own. Covers both novices who will be interested in just some basic data, and professionals who want absolutely overview of multimedia content that is part of their large audio and video libraries.

MediaInfo offers two ways of controlling data gathering. Novice users will appreciate presence of fully featured graphical interface that can showcase everything they desire, but professional users can use much more powerful command interface that can work with custom scripts, extract information from large media archives, and dump data into databases of your choice.  App easily showcases all the available information from 5 basic metadata categories – General, Video, Audio, Text and Chapters. Supported file formats are numerous, covering all the most popular codecs that are used by serious multimedia data collectors and general PC users.  Interface of the GUI is as of early 2014 localized in 36 international languages.
